Local Valentine’s Day Events and Venues

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, I wanted to highlight a few local events I heard about from my fine friends at The San Diego Museum of Art, The Headquarters at Seaport Village, and the dog-friendly Hotel Indigo.

Valentine’s Day at the Museum (Sunday, February 14)
Embrace romance with an after-hours, love-themed art tour, available exclusively on February 14th. Following the tour, visit the May S. Marcy Sculpture Court and Garden at Panama 66 and enjoy a picnic basket for two filled with gourmet sandwiches, a cheese or vegan plate, chocolate truffles and a bottle of champagne, wine or craft beer. Museum tours are offered every half hour from 5:30–7:30 p.m.

Cost: All-inclusive cost, $80 members | $90 nonmembers
Location: The San Diego Museum of Art (1450 El Prado, San Diego, CA 92102)
Phone: (619) 232-7931; Website: San Diego Museum of Art

Canine Cocktails at Hotel Indigo (Thursday, February 11)
Single and ready to mingle? Have a dog you absolutely love? Then take your pooch and head to the Hotel Indigo on Thursday night from 5:30-9 p.m. for some quality cocktails and the chance to chat with other local dog-owners. Even better, Canine Cocktails will help you show your charitable side. All proceeds from the event (including a small raffle) go towards the San Diego Humane Society.

Location: Hotel Indigo San Diego Gaslamp Quarter (509 9th Ave, San Diego, CA 92101)

Bonnie and Clyde Outdoor Movie Night at the Headquarters at Seaport (Friday, February 12)
San Diegans looking for a twist on the traditional Valentine’s Day date can ditch the expensive dinner and flowers and head to the Headquarters for a free outdoor movie screening of Bonnie and Clyde on Friday, February 12th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. With fully-restored 1939 jail cells and mug shot photo-ops, the former San Diego Police Headquarters is the perfect venue to celebrate the most lawless couple in history. The event is completely free; guests are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets for the screening. Come early and enjoy a cocktail from Puesto or Season’s 52, and enjoy sweet bites from specialty food shops like Dallmann’s and Venissimo Cheese.

Cost: FREE
Location: The Headquarters at Seaport (789 W Harbor Dr, San Diego, CA 92101)

Puesto (Valentine’s Day Special)
One of my personal favs! Known for its refined flavors of Mexican street food, and its lively atmosphere, each couple who dines at Puesto on Valentine’s Day will receive a free rose to celebrate the holiday.

The perfect treat for your sweetheart, these cakes are made fresh in-house daily and feature ingredients imported directly from Italy.
