Superbowl Party Wrapped Up and Flushed Out #2KF @VantagePointeSD

Ah, the superbowl… a wonderous day of watching the big game, having friends over,  seeing all the cool new expensive commercials, and questioning the choice of the half-time show performers, almost every year. ;-)

This year, 2000 Flushes was kind enough to give me a cool Superbowl Party tub o’ fun, including nice party favors, decorations, a betting pool game, plus a $50 gift card that helped pay for snacks and such… all in exchange for writing up my thoughts on their product. The product tie-in is great: the Superbowl is the day that receives the most toilet flushes! So with that being said, the product works great, keeps your toilet sparkling clean, and the cool blue color lets you know when you need to add another one, even if it is somewhere near 2,000 flushes later!

As we watched the game in the nice theater room of my condo complex @VantagePointeSD, eating Phil’s BBQ that the kind property management folks provided for residents, we kept awarding quarterly winner ribbons to the person that had their name in the square that matched the score. The grand prize was the talking toilet paper holder that 2000 Flushes included… a hilarious gift that our friend Sarah M. is now thoroughly enjoying, I’m sure.

It was a good game, everyone had a great time, and 2000 Flushes was a great sponsor. Oh, get in on their $10,000 Bathroom Makeover Sweepstakes! Which is awarded via check, that you can use however you like. ;-)

Sign My Book, Please!

Last Wednesday I had the privilege of hosting an exclusive wine tasting and book signing event with the energetic and passionate Gary Vaynerchuk at Vin De Syrah Wine Parlor in Downtown San Diego’s Gaslamp district. Gary was in San Diego as part of his multi-city book tour, including 6 airport signings in just 2 days, for his just released book, “Crush It!”, which in a few short chapters covers his entrepreneurial spirit since childhood, how he grew and built upon his passion for wine, and how anyone that has a passion for something in their life can build a following and make money doing what they love.

Syrah Wine Parlor was the perfect venue for someone like Gary, who is not the norm regarding wine connoisseurs, the same way Syrah is not the norm regarding wine bars. Syrah is a unique venue, styling itself after Alice in Wonderland, with a somewhat secret entrance, wine roots on the ceiling, and captivating decor. It’s become one of Downtown’s hot spots, and later in the night has guest DJs playing great music until 2am.

The event was the 1 year anniversary party of the “tWineUp” (Twitter Wine Meetup) group, and brought together many of Gary’s fans to taste wine in his very unique and enthusiastic manner, to meet him in person, and have him personalize and sign a copy of his book. The venue was filled to capacity, and while pouring wine that fast for everyone to be able to taste along was challenging, Syrah had extra servers on hand and did a wonderful job. After the wine tasting, Gary was busy signing books and talking with people one-on-one.

Everyone left with smiles, from not only the wine being tasted, but from meeting Gary and experiencing in person his passion for wine, people, social media, and life.

tWineUp Sights & Sips Cruise

A tWineUp is a name I made up for my “Twitter Wine Meetups”, join the group to get notification of future ones!

Thanks to everyone who came out to the tWineUp Sights & Sips cruise, it was tons of fun, and I hope you enjoyed yourselves. We went out to Sushi Itto afterwards and enjoyed a nice dinner and sake, then a few of us made it to Altitude to cap off the night with people watching, music, dancing, and relaxing.

Yet Another Successful tWineUp!
